After posting about Leyla's Notebook, I was contacted by Zahraa who asked if I could customize one for her mother. The notebook would be a surprise gift.
What makes this notebook special is that Fatma - Zahraa's mom - loves writing poetry. Zahraa wanted to include her mother's poems. But she wanted to have some blank papers for her mother to write down some more.
I had already saved a beautiful paper I had made a year ago from a previous marbling session and thought it would be perfect for this project.

It was reminiscent of a gentle water stream and there was something romantic and charming about it, which made it very fit for the theme.

I had already went through Fatma's poems while working on my layout. Her words evoked so much tenderness and love.

For the signature covers, the blank papers were wrapped with the printed texts containing the titles and their corresponding poems.

Each signature acted like a chapter. And each chapter's first page was titled with the name of one of Fatma's family members, from her husband to her children and their spouses. The poems were on the first and last pages of each signature. The rest was blank paper.

I used bleedproof papers on the inside and opted once more for coptic stitching.

The first page of this notebook read in Arabic "Daftar Fatma" - Fatma's Notebook, with her full name mentioned below, as if it was a real pocket book with the authors name.

And on the end, Zahraa requested that I place her mother's birthday date for this year.
Happy birthday Mrs Fatma, I hope you had a great one!
